the working dog.......
Guarding premises

Herding or Droving various animals including cattle and reindeer

Pulling or hauling various vehicles such as carts and sleds

Hunting which could range from all kinds of smaller animals to big game including lions and tigers

Performing water and mountain rescues
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A show dog is a dog that exhibits the following qualities:

1. No disqualifying faults, according to the standard.

2. Possesses breed type.

3. Faults are minor in nature and would be defined as "could use more of" rather than "lacking in".

4. Show attitude, a willingness to perform under pressure of the show ring.

5. Can place in the ribbons in any show, under any judge at least four out of seven times.

6. Has balance..

in your eyes or experience can you say its almost the same thing? can a show dog work?

i seen good dogs today but i see the similarities.. some of the good dogs i seen are pratically show dogs. thats it. you paying for that. thats how these big top name breeders make their money.

i dont just want a show dog, i want a dog with full package that can do it all.

whats your opinion?

I will not buy another dog that does not come from a working home. This is a working breed. Most people get dogs based on size and head type also. I like showing a bit but much rather have a dog that can work if i had to choose

Same, a dog with a purpose...there is no hog hunting, lions tigers or bears here to hunt. No rudolphs either. Guard dogs is what I like.

Well I think it's not commen to have a dog that can do both work and show... But I am lucky to own one. Mojo can go back and forth from a WP track to a show ring and back again... and still compete at a high level. He has a rock solid temp, even though he is a bit dog aggressive with strange dogs... he is smart and he is willing to please. But I also see a big devide at shows where show people want to say the working dogs are ugly and the working people call the show peoples dogs show poodles...
